Samo woman II

After a first sketch with pencil, here so far the study of a Samo woman with pastel. It’s a pity that there are vertical lines within the paper, so I won’t finish this one, but it was an excercise anyway as a preparation for another with oil paint.

Portrait painting sessions

The last two Friday evenings I joined a portrait painting group. It’s a two hour session. I didn’t paint though, used pastel crayons and stumping for now. When we continue in September I’ll experiment with paint. The first is of Jaqueline and the second was a double portrait of Mark and Jorien. JaquelineMark&Jorien

Esther, a portrait

Our last portrait session of the year is mostly also a live drawing session. Didn’t know where to begin, what I wanted, so I made several drawings. Here two of them; one with the whole figure in which I tried to forget about getting it perfect, just played a bit with colour and the composition. The second a portrait, with not too much lines, well there was not much time left anyway:
