Yesterday we sketched an amazing model, Fernando from Brazil. He’s a dancer and practices also Capoeira. He performed some very difficult ‘up side down pretzel’ poses! I still need to work on those sketches… Here 2 of the more simple ones. One with charcoal and one with charcoal pencil.

Mike, male model

Last Wednesday Mike was our model. We don’t have male models often, so it’s always a bit of a challenge to draw the different kind of features and musculature that the male figure has. Here are two of the sketches of Mike made with charcoal pencil:

The last few days I was in Scorze, Italy not far from Venice and saw the beautiful sculptures you find at the Villa’s. I did draw some of them; they’re so patient 🙂 Will be blogging about that soon.

Male figure

It has been a while since I’ve been to our drawing sessions, but yesterday I was able to go. Mike was our model and it’s always a bit of a challenge, because we mainly draw the female figure. I’m still looking for a more free drawing style, I guess it’s just a matter of practice. Here are two of the sketches, with charcoal and chalk in about 10 min:
