Practicing Ashtanga daily while I’m not at home is challenging for me. Last week I did Half Primary, sometimes a short version of David Swenson for 15 or 30 minutes, at least a thorough Surya Namaskar A+B on very busy days and today I followed this led class with Sharath, recently posted by Sonima:
Every time I notice that Half Primary (or Full) gives the best energy throughout the day, but when that’s not possible, I guess it’s best to do some version of the Ashtanga sequence.
In the last 10 days I did Full Primary 4 times, which for me is a record 🙂 The other days started with half primary or just half an hour of the practice. It is far less than what I did when I started out, although there has been a lot of progress since then and more asanas are possible now. Along the way I learned that it is not about achieving or performing, learned to listen to my body but at the same time work hard, that is being more conscious of the alignment, bandhas, focus and being relaxed at the same time.
Watching lots of vids on Ashtanga have been very helpful to understand a little bit more of the practice. The other day I stumbled upon an interview that I found very interesting. Maybe it is mainly for the ashtanga practitioners here, but nevertheless:
