About me:

Sunday mornings you’ll find me at a life drawing session with my art friends. The sketches we make, vary between 2 to 15 minutes. Not a lot of time, but you can’t get lost in the details, which is a good training. Next to life drawing classes I have followed a portrait painting course and some sculpture classes, but mostly work for myself at projects. The last few years I wasn’t very productive, but hopefully this will change. There’s a lot of inspiration on the internet and here on WordPress, thanks to the blogging artists 🙂

Furthermore I practice ashtanga yoga, mostly Half Primary and sometimes Full Primary. I started in the beginning of 2013, slowly building up the practice on my own with help via dvd’s by Kino, Maria Villella, David Robson, Sharath and books by Kino, David Swenson, Gregor Maehle, Sri K.Pattabhi Jois and youtube instructional videos and interviews with various experts. Many years ago I was a ballet dancer, so anatomy and knowing how far you can go in your practice kept me injury free until now. Besides that I like to maintain/increase flexibility and strength of my body, I love the philosophy behind ashtanga.  Another very important reason why I started with this practice is that “Diseases that cannot be cured by medicine can be cured by yoga; diseases that cannot be cured by yoga cannot be cured at all.” (from Yoga Mala) And in the foreword of this book Eddie Stern wrote: “This garland of yoga, when diligently practiced, adorns our entire being with peace, health, radiance, and, ultimately, self-knowledge.” What more can I say…
