Some of the sketches from last month. Finally I managed to add more colors within the limited time.
Latest live model sketches
It has been a while…. but I’ve been drawing and painting every day for the last month or so. Here an impression of some of the latest sketches.
Susanne, a former ballet dancer, very tall and skinny. So beautiful and inspiring to find a way to catch her on paper:
Priscilla, a young fashion model, lovely and very nice to work with:
And here is Linde again, one of our favorite models who has been working for the academy since she was about 15 years old. Here I tried to add more color, still searching for a favorite drawing style:
Chandana and Dana
Here two of the latest drawings; Chandana with charcoal and Dana with charcoal pencil and chalk.
Hopefully I’ll get the time to blog about the workshop in Scorze, Italy soon….
Portrait of Flip
Another try of a portrait with oil paint, still too much of a drawing I think. But he looks like Flip, our model 🙂 I finished the painting with some lines with charcoal pencil.
Fernando
Yesterday we sketched an amazing model, Fernando from Brazil. He’s a dancer and practices also Capoeira. He performed some very difficult ‘up side down pretzel’ poses! I still need to work on those sketches… Here 2 of the more simple ones. One with charcoal and one with charcoal pencil.
Laura
Wednesday evening Laura was our model. She works at a famous Dutch museum, very interesting! In the second image I tried to sketch just a detail with charcoal and charcoal pencil and in the last one I only used charcoal, trying to make no lines. Just ‘painting’ with the side of the charcoal stick and wiping with my finger. That’s a total different experience…
Mike, male model
Last Wednesday Mike was our model. We don’t have male models often, so it’s always a bit of a challenge to draw the different kind of features and musculature that the male figure has. Here are two of the sketches of Mike made with charcoal pencil:
The last few days I was in Scorze, Italy not far from Venice and saw the beautiful sculptures you find at the Villa’s. I did draw some of them; they’re so patient 🙂 Will be blogging about that soon.
